Washington Auto Accident Attorney - What to do after an accident

Hoping to provide everybody the resources and knowledge to know how to fight their personal injury lawsuit, Seattle car accident attorney Jason Epstein Jason Jason gives advice on what you should do immediately following an auto accident.

Having fought a large number of auto accident cases, I know that having a lot of information about a crash is essential in receiving money for a claim. If you get into an auto accident, it is very important that you collect as much information at the scene as possible. If you don't, you can virtually ruin your case. Here is what you need to get immediately following an accident:

- Names and addresses of all parties involved. Getting any information on anyone involved can be crucial to your case. Try to get everything you can - names, addresses, email addresses, drivers license, and phone number are very important.

- Insurance information. Getting the insurance information of anyone involved is a must. Typically this means their insurance company and a policy number, and even a phone number if you can get that as well.

- Eyewitness information. To prove your case, it is a great help to have eyewitness accounts. If you are in an accident, make sure you check with anybody who may have seen the crash and get their contact information. Typical eyewitnesses include drivers behind and around you, pedestrians, and even people in local shops or restaurants.

- Nearby surveillance video - Whether it be a DOT traffic camera, or video from a store, video of the accident could be an enormous boost to your case. This is something that doesn't usually occur to people at the scene of an accident, but make sure you look around to find one just in case, because they usually film over their video after a couple days.

- Take photographs of the scene - It is a good idea to always have a camera in your car, or if you have a good camera phone, that would work as well. Take pictures from every angle of the scene, the cars and the people so you have visual evidence of the accident.
